These are two rules that most recreational players have never heard of. But knowing the difference between a hinder and a distraction can save you from losing a point you should not have lost.
Hinder
- A hinder is any outside occurrence not caused by a player that affects play.
- Examples include a ball rolling onto the court, a flying insect, or any foreign material that interferes with the rally.
- A hinder can be called by either the referee or a player.
- Result: Dead ball and a replay of the point.
