The ATP, short for around the post, is when you hit the ball so it travels outside the net post, curves around it, and lands in the court. The ball does not have to go over the net. If it goes around the post without touching it, the shot is completely legal.
It is the coolest shot in pickleball. And yes, you can learn how to hit it.
