A drive is a low, hard, flat shot hit over the net with the goal of applying pressure and forcing a weak response. It is not a reset. It is not a dink. It is an aggressive shot meant to put your opponent on defense fast.
Stance: A slightly open or square stance works well for most players. If the ball is shallow and you can step in, closing your stance slightly with your opposite foot forward helps transfer weight forward cleanly. The key is staying balanced and being able to rotate through the shot.
Paddle tip: Point it off to the side at contact, not down. Make a seal-like motion through the ball as you swing.
